Sweating is a bit like an elephant in the room – we all know that feeling, but we don’t like to talk about it that much. Sweating is a normal, physiological process in your body that regulates body temperature and protects it from overheating. The sweat itself is odorless and colorless, but when mixed with bacteria on the skin, a characteristic, unpleasant odor is created. How to avoid the sweat-caused discomfort and what options are out there?
Deodorants or antiperspirants?
The main difference between these two is the mechanism of action. Antiperspirants contain aluminum salts, which block the sweat glands on the skin, therefore prevent sweat from being released. Usually the effect lasts from 24 to 72 hours. Unlike antiperspirants, deodorants do not block the sweat glands, but absorb moisture, fight bacteria and unpleasant body odor. Deodorants containing natural ingredients usually work for up to 24 hours.
What is a natural deodorant?
A natural deodorant is usually made from plant-based or plant-derived ingredients. It certainly does not contain aluminum and its salts, parabens, silicones, PEG, etc.
What is hidden in the formula of SILMACHY deodorant?
SILMACHY deodorant has moisture-absorbing properties due to well-known and effective corn starch and mineral zinc oxide, which then also soothes irritated skin (for example, after shaving). Organic coconut and sweet almond oils moisturize and soothe your skin. Candelilla wax obtained from candelilla bush (Euphorbia cerifera) gives the deodorant consistency and structure. Vitamin E (α-tocopherol) acts as an antioxidant. Valuable Sage and Chamomile oils contain many active compounds that provide an antibacterial environment, soothe the skin and heal skin microtraumas. Peppermint oil gives deodorant a refreshing aroma that is lasting throughout the day.
The formula of SILMACHY deodorant is carefully put together and tested, it does not contain aluminum and its salts, soda, alcohol, aggressive fragrances or preservatives.
Why is our deodorant baking soda free?
The well-known baking soda or sodium bicarbonate is sometimes used not only in household products, but also in deodorants. While soda can indeed help neutralize unpleasant odors, there may also be some risks to its exposure to the skin in long-term. Use of such deodorant on more sensitive skin may cause redness, itching, rash or scaling of the skin. Reason for this is the high pH of baking soda (around 10). The pH of healthy skin is closer to 5 or 5.5. Regular application of such different pH can cause skin irritation. Therefore, when creating the new product, we chose alternative, efficient and less-risky raw materials.
